Kraftwerk，德语，相当于英语中的Power Station。脱颖于上世纪六十年代德国实验音乐团队的Kraftwerk，在七十年代中期，以《Autobahn》、《Trans—Europe Express》、《The Man Machine》三张专辑为实验电子浇注了坚实的工业基础。在这些完美的作品中，Kraftwerk摆脱了冗长繁复的编曲结构，采用了小巧、循环的节奏编排，使音乐听来极为流畅悦耳，同时开始了电子音乐的再颠覆。之后的New Wave、New Romantic、Ambient、Hip—hop、Techno 甚至工业噪音等音乐都从中得到了启发。

这首《Hall Of Mirrors》来自专辑《Trans—Europe Express》。“镜厅”是真实存在于法国凡尔赛宫的一个房间，这里曾是当年皇室举行舞会的地方，墙上共镶有十七面大镜子，对着十七面落地玻璃窗。屋内的水晶吊灯，屋外花园的鲜花绿草，加上盛装舞蹈的人群，全都在这些镜面中反射、折射，虚实相伴，舞影蹁跹。

冰冷的镜面以及复制的影像，无疑与Kraftwerk的音乐一拍即合。在这首节拍缓慢、音响多层、音色单调的歌曲中，一张操着日耳曼英语的苍白脸孔干涩地闯入镜面的迷宫，顾盼、游移，一眼看去全是虚假的自己和恐慌的眼睛，只有空荡的房间里寂寥的足音陪伴着。这里有亮光，但却没有暖意；有人影，但却没有人心。这是个镜像构成的世界，说不定你只是一个镜子反射的影像，本尊正离自己越来越远，远得已经无法让人找到。让穴居人安心生活的，正是火把照耀下的洞穴世界。入夜时分，窗外车水马龙，灯火灼灼，又有多少人快速奔走于这个镜厅中，用科技武装来虚张声势，用甲壳衣裳来掩饰真容……
