黑匣子是飞机上的记录仪器，是空难事故的见证者。以Black Box Recorder命名的这支乐队，自然而然让我们联想到了“灾难记录者”的含义。著名低调乐队Auteurs的灵魂人物Luke Haines与两个毕业于戏剧学院的年轻人Sarah和John组建了这支玩票式乐队。Luke似乎一扫阴郁和恶毒的气息，在这里奉献了时尚、飘渺、细腻的音乐，而Sarah纯真又性感的声喉，则成了Black Box Recorder的独特标签。

听“黑匣子”的歌，是需要费点心思研究歌词的。因为只有这样，你才会知道，在动听歌声的皮肤底下，暗藏的是怎样的血淋淋的苦难骨肉。正如这张《England Made Me》的第一首歌名提供的诡异意象，Sarah的歌唱，是一个站立于废墟上的女孩的歌唱，是遭受了悲恸之后麻木而绝望的表白。Sarah用冷静的唱腔，反反复复吟唱着强奸、绑架、虐恋、变态……没错，这就是我们的生活，奇妙的生活。

《Wonderful Life》可以视为Lou Reed那首《Pefect Day》的姊妹篇。什么是奇妙的生活？歌中提供了多种多样的选择：你可以去逛逛街，但要记得省钱；可以做做生意，学着讨价还价；去找点乐子，开始欠债；去学着保持体形，试图减肥；甚至可以饮弹自尽，在垂死的时候痛快地呼吸，做你自己一生的受害者……这就是奇妙的生活，不是吗？这首歌的节奏平凡无奇，有点单调，一如我们的生活，永远处于低频状态。起床、吃饭、上班、吃饭、上班、吃饭、睡觉、做一堆毫无意义的梦、和一大堆人说些毫无兴趣的话、做永远和自己没有关系的无趣之事。我们恍恍惚惚地，为了寻求生活的光明面而努力，可却无法清醒地看清，自己始终在肮脏、颓圮的地面上爬行、蠕动。这就是奇妙的生活，我们的生活。
